I've just wired in and fired up my alpine sub and now I'm showing the following error in the 5F module

Does anyone know the vcds coding to remove checking for speakers?

Cheers @Deaky error codes messing with my OCD :(
Messes with mine too. If you're that bothered you can fit some sort of ballast resistor to fool the HU into thinking speakers are connected instead of an amp.

Might just have to do that  another job added to the list!

They will not be checked when coded as not installed in byte 4. Still, sound is output at line level (low) at least when byte 11 is 0x05 (sound system external booster).

Disclaimers:
  • Mine is Discover Media with 6 speaker setup, no sub - seems different headunit to yours, not sure if settings are the same
  • I have 4 channel amp in "low" input mode, ie line level (Focal Impulse 4.320)
  • No speaker emulators or any other boxes needed in between headunit and amp
  • After installing the amp, I got open circuit faults from all speakers until resolved through clearing byte 4

Little bit more information from Audi World, I suppose passive crossovers used by VAG change the overall impedance of the speaker the headunit sees and hence there’s separate bits for treble and bass speakers installed.

The post kind of suggests byte 4 bits don’t have anything to do with if sound is actually output. But I haven’t tested this personally except with external amp installed.

Thanks @n10n That's sorted the fault code  perfect @Deaky resolution for OCD
