Campsite Cooking - - How I done it - -

Yes with a jubilee clip.

Or get a second gas hose made up with a regulator on the end.

That's what I done, so now have both options, bolted or QR.

Well, as I found the quick release fitting for the Cadac in the box. Today I went o a new Go Outdoors centre as I happened to be parked nearby. Asked 3 assistants if they sold the rubber hoses, the 3rd seemed to have a remote idea of what I was talking about. However it was about the only bit of Cadac stuff we couldnt find on the display. Then I noticed, on a different shelf, no packaging, labels or any others a rubber tube. I said, thats what I am looking for, except the 1.5m version.

The assistant had no idea where it came from so he said I could have it. So my Cadac is now quick release :)

So QR at the CADAC end.....

What does the other end screw onto ?

What's your Gas source bottle?.... Red Reg with 5kg bottle?.....

Got a few pics of the new setup?.

while we on the CADAC front. . .

ill just drop this here:

that means we need a splitter,

i had a quick look about, but my Google foo failed me . . .

so it was time for a MacGyver.

The idea being that the Gas Bottle can sit out the way,

the shorter 1.5M QR pipe will feed the CADAC 2pro on the kitchen table in the awning.

the there is a 5m QR pipe to feed the CADAC Carri Chef that can be just out the awning, or full outside - BBQ stlye.

well that's the theory.

now for the practical test. . . .

ill take it all to T6F summer camp 23 and give it a test.

Excellent bit of MacGyver-ing there.

My Mrs is after something similar to run from the main bottle in the van which maybe the only way for me to get the Cadac 2 Cook 3 Pro I think will be handy for outdoor cooking when we travel through Portugal & Spain in a few weeks.

Hope this isn't a silly question but are the QR valves closed off when not connected to anything? Haven't had any prior experience with them so curious to know before I suggest something similar as a possible solution.

I was more leaning toward the Cadac 2 gas canister setup for portability but a setup like this could clinch it.

Yes the QR valves are shut off when not connected.

I've adapted all my gas stuff to QR now.

And have made up a few more QR pipes as well.

I've also made up a QR blue REG hose.

Now all my gear is QR and plug and play everything..

Any gas bottle, any gas cooker, any gas BBQ, any combo.

HI Delmassive, great thread. I have installed a Smev 9722 and want to run it off a QR Cadac dual power pack wot I have bought. I will also be using a Cadac pro outside the van so wanted to be able to swap over easily. I have attached the hose from the hob using the compression fitting but now need a 'male' fitting to go into the end of the orange tube that the Cadac QR will attach to but I am not sure what to order. I got a Fulham 1/4" delivered (on left) but the thread doesn't fit the Cadac bit (middle) so I am guessing the thread is the wrong way around ? thumbnail_IMG_1801.jpg

2024 season . . .

and now we have a van to play with the CampSite Cooking has had to change a bit. ( verses the panel van and tent we had before)

weve had to down size some stuff.

of the various setups, this is the normal long weekend configuration.

1714985261739.png

The CADAC CARRI CHEF has been sold on to a family member as its just a bit big and space in the van.

2024 OUT :

1714985612120.png

+++

2024 IN :

However the CADAC 2 Cook 2 Pro Deluxe QR now lives in the van all the time,

1714985563596.png

here you can see it setup in the front porch at Spring Camp.

1714985478153.png

2024 IN: Camping units from Berghaus,

weve added these awesome Camping units from Berghaus,

they pop-up and click into place, so no messing about with poles and all that jaz.

1714985767311.png

the cooker fits ontop perfectly, and we add a table cloth to the top to catch any cooking splater to save ruining it.

its the perfect hight for the cooker, very stable, and doubles as a storage unit.

in fact we liked it so much, . . . .

we bought a second one. . . the idea being that it could be used as a prep table.

but on this occasion it was used as the tea & coffee station.....

1714986006586.png

++++++++++++++

and me being me . . . . i decided to get the slightly larger MAXI version too. . . .

:mexican wave:

1714986095584.png1714986112415.png

2024 IN : Jetboil. - https://amzn.to/4a72rrt

the jetboil now lives in the van with a couple of C500 gas cans,

its small, powerfull and great for making tea, coffee and even boiling carrots for dinner - yep weve actualy done that.

1714986378213.png

+++

also new for 2024 is the whole Delta2 + Kettle + Coffee machine.

yep weve done that. . . some may call it glaming, but im fine with that.

So IN for 2024 is the:

Ecoflow Delta2 - https://amzn.to/3WuCSxI

(well ,its not new as such as weve had it for a year or so, but its now a permanent feature in the Bus so we can call upon its stored power for whatever)

1714986565055.png

we leave it in the van and run a EHU out to the awning and plug in what we need.

here you see the Delta2 sitting on one of my battery boxes, that gives us three times the extended run time.

1714986669783.png

2024 IN - Kettle. - https://amzn.to/44BxzOY

the missus was a bit dangerous with the gas, so much safer with this kettle.

just as quick, if not quicker than heating with gas, great for tea and hot water for washing up. . . but power hungry and takes its toll on the Delta2 battery.

1714986757788.png

2024 IN - Coffee Pod machine - https://amzn.to/4dDlmxk

this little pod coffee machine is great, and i love it.

we carefully selected it from many for a few reasons.

it takes the Nespresso style pods, which are now out of patent so you can get good quality cheap pods.

the water tank takes 1 Litre, so you can get a 3/4 mugs worth before having to refill. ( most have smaller tanks)

its around 1400w power, so quick to heat up and get you a hot coffee, (run time is around 60sec for a 300ml mug of coffee)

its programmable, so you can present your small/large cup volumes . . I've just set both buttons to give me a full mugs worth.

its a small size so can be tucked away in the van for storage.

even though the CADAC CARRI CHEF is OUT for 2024 . . .

we just couldn't be without one, so thanks to our good buddies on the forum we now have a "Cadac Grillo Chef 40 Gas BBQ"

2024 IN : Cadac Grillo Chef 40 Gas BBQ - https://amzn.to/3UBODzQ

1714987436117.png

but it the moment its still out the back looking sorry for itself. . . i think we need better BBQ weather for this one.

1714987821722.png

.

so thats the current IN`s and OUT`s for 2024,

but theres more. . . . .

so whatelse for 2024 . . . . ?

not ours, but it come in very handy . . .

2024 IN : AIR FRYER

1714988236848.png

yep, that happened.

Chunky Chip Shop Chips, cooked in the middle of a Field.

and Onion rings i think - lol

1714988288886.png

these are power hungry so best run off the EHU,

but if you have enough battery power then there is no reason that you can use it off grid.

@BoroBoy whose Ninja this was had the Delta2, plus the EF extra battery, Plus some mobile solar.

in the pic above you can see the power cable linking back over to the van to pickup power.

1714988489823.png

here we can see some other cooking setups.

here we have a Cadac Cook2Pro and a single burner gas stove.

the cadac is running off a 907 gas bottle, which is more economical than c500 gas cans.

weve now also moved over to 907 bottles as they are smaller and easier to keep in the van.

2024 IN : 907 Gas Bottle

1714988569906.png

up next we have this very impressive setup.

1714988732885.png

thats the new "Cadac Carri Chef 40 Chef Pan Combo Gas BBQ"

connected to a green/red gas bottle.

2024 IN: Cadac Carri Chef 40

1714988784430.png

up here you can see a small single burner mini stove connected to a c500 gas can.

1714988861546.png

and behind that we have a EHU real, that run from a Lifpo4 battery stack and inverter.

which in tern is running a 240v coffee pod machine.

Nice.

.

what about a BEER MACHINE . . . - https://amzn.to/44rxahZ

2024 IN : Perfect Draft

1714988984029.png

1714989023581.png

yep, a beer machine.

this was plugged into the vans 240v inverter, running from twin Lifepo4`s and solar.

sweet.
.

Just got one of these, haven’t tried it yet but hoping it’s going to make cleaning the grills easier (hopefully better than leaving it upturned on the dewy grass)

we will 100% be getting a couple of the square ones for the Cook2Pro square cooking plates.

they a PITA to clean and dont fit in the washing up bowl.

im waiting for Camperjam and hoping for a deal at the CADAC stall.

i was looking at them last year at Busfest - they wanted £18 back then.
